The LCDT community consultation, launched at our public meeting at the end of March and running into May, has now concluded and we are delighted to be able to share the findings and results of this. We will be emailing all members a full copy of the report shortly. In addition a pdf version will be available via our website and printed copies will be available at some sites throughout the village (library, drs, Mckillop, Junction, the Bull, The Annexe etc). Thank you to everyone who participated. The results are very encouraging. The views of around 700 people were captured, including children and young people. Local people were strongly in favour of taking over the water abstraction: 78% were supportive, 17% were not sure, 5% were against.
The consultation tells us villagers believe Lochwinnoch is a great place live with a lot to offer for a good quality of life. There is good social connectedness and good levels of community activism and self-determination. The population is considered healthy, creative, friendly and diverse. Lack of local employment and business diversity, bored young people and poor transport links are key local challenges.
Local people identified a range of benefits LCDT could bring to the village: from investment into services and amenities to stimulating spin off social enterprise activity. Outcomes included: being better connected, being empowered to develop services which matter to them, having opportunities to develop their potential and feeling Lochwinnoch is an even better place to live. Suggestions included a multipurpose space for intergenerational activities, a community transport scheme, renewable technologies and amenities for young people.
