Lochwinnoch Unplugged at the Parish Church

Lochwinnoch Parish Church to Host First Music Event

Lochwinnoch Community Development is thrilled to announce our very first music event at Lochwinnoch Parish Church on Sunday, 30 August!

The acoustic showcase runs from 1pm to 3:30pm (doors open at 1pm).

Ten local acts will perform, bringing everything from moving spoken word to brand-new originals and crowd-pleasing sing-alongs. The line-up includes Howlin’ Radio, Outi Karhu, Fran Schoppler, Small Fezzes Ukulele Band, Down on the Corner, Pauline Vallance, Paul Cameron, Lochwinnoch Singers, Shaun Moore – Tannahill Makar, and the Rural Renfrewshire Guitar Club.

Free fun for kids

While the music plays, children can take part in free activities from 1pm to 3:30pm. These include a colouring wall, LEGO corner, face painting, and a Morffledoo Treasure Hunt. Not only will there be an outdoor Nature Fix craft workshop for kids, but also Samba dancing!

The future of Parish Church- More than a music concert

This event is hopefully a glimpse of much more to come. LCDT purchased the Parish Church from the Church of Scotland in May 2025, with support from the Scottish Land Fund. The long-term vision? Transform the A-listed sandstone building into a creative community hub. This event offers a chance to experience the space as a venue – and to get behind the project before work begins.

However, the transformation comes at a cost. LCDT has secured significant backing, including £198,250 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the design phase, with a further £1.98m pledged for the build. Historic Environment Scotland has added £500,000 for conservation work. Even so, LCDT must still raise approximately £1 million through additional funders and community fundraising.

Looking ahead

LDN Architects is leading the design team, and building work is expected to take roughly two years. But first, the community gets to hear the music – and help write the next chapter for a building that has stood at the heart of Lochwinnoch for 200 years.
