We are excited to share that Lochwinnoch Community Development Trust has received a double funding boost for Lochhead Gardens. The project is taking a big step forward thanks to two generous funding awards totaling £7,900 for our community space.
Bringing Biodiversity to Lochhead Gardens
First, the National Lottery Community Fund has awarded £2,900 to create a wildlife pond and water supply. This funding is another step forward in creating a welcoming outdoor space where local people can gather and enjoy nature. The new pond will boost biodiversity in the gardens by attracting pollinators and wildlife. We hope that the pond will provide a home for frogs, newts, and dragonflies, as well as birds and insects.

Community Crops
On top of that, LCDT has received £5,000 from Bauer Media Outdoor UK. This money was secured through Renfrewshire Council’s social value fund. The money will be used to build wooden raised beds inside the polytunnel. These new raised beds will improve the growing conditions, make maintenance easier, and provide some added protection for the crops. What’s more, it will increase productivity, a massive help for LEAP, which uses the polytunnel to grow fresh food for the local community larder.
We want to say a huge thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund, Bauer Media Outdoor UK, and Renfrewshire Council for their incredible support. Thank you also to everyone in the community who has supported the Lochhead Gardens project along the way.
What is Next?
There is still plenty of work to do! We cannot wait to share more updates with you as the site continues to take shape. If you would like to get involved, volunteer your time, or find out more about what we are doing, please visit the project page: Lochhead Gardens project
