We are excited to announce that the Inspiring Scotland Neighbourhood Economic Fund has awarded funding to Lochwinnoch Community Development Trust. This vital funding supports the Tandlemuir Habitat Survey, marking the crucial first step in our long-term Tandlemuir Regeneration Project.
Tandlemuir Habitat survey: Why is it so important?
Before we can restore and enhance the land, we need to understand it. This survey will assess the current condition of the habitat, identify species of special interest, and highlight areas of high conservation value. The final report will provide us with expert biodiversity recommendations, serving as a “greenprint” for all our future restoration efforts.
Starling Learning, a highly respected ecological consultancy based right here in Lochwinnoch, is to carry out the Tandlemuir Habitat Survey. We’re excited to partner with local expertise to help protect and enhance our natural environment.
Tandlmuir Regeneration Project Vision
A long history of peatland drainage for grouse shooting has left the Tandlemuir landscape scarred and barren. Our vision is to restore Tandlemuir’s natural habitats through peatland restoration and native tree planting. It is hoped that these efforts encourage the return of native flora and fauna.
